Ex-chief of state housing developer LH nominated as land minister

Land Minister nominee Park Sang-woo is a former career government official recognized for his expertise in housing and land policy, having served as the head of the state-run Korea Land & Housing (LH).

Park, who majored in public administration at Korea University, joined the ministry in 1983 and served in key posts, including the head of the ministry's planning and coordination office. He earned his doctorate degree in urban development at Gachon University.

After serving as the head of the Korea Research Institute for Construction Policy, he was named LH's CEO in March 2016 during the Park Geun-hye administration and fully served his three-year term.

He is credited with successfully improving LH's poor financial structure during his term and effectively tackling housing welfare policy tasks under the succeeding Moon Jae-in administration. (Yonhap)
