Huneed wins presidential award for innovation

Huneed Technologies has won a presidential award in recognition for its technological expertise in developing cutting-edge aerospace telecommunication systems supplied to the world's leading jet makers, the company said Thursday.

It received the top award at this year's National Productivity Award hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The annual award is given to manufacturing firms here which played a crucial role in generating outstanding business outcomes, thereby helping enhance the nation's economic development.

“We are extremely honored to have received the presidential prize this year, and view it as evidence proving our commitment to developing the nation's aerospace industry,” Huneed Technologies Chairman Eugene Kim said. “We are on the right path to grow our global aerospace market share.”

Huneed was founded in 1968 and has since developed into one of the most tech-savvy aerospace players with expertise in manufacturing tactical communication systems.

The company has particularly posted rapid growth for the past three years at average annual sales growth of 82 percent. The outstanding achievement came in part due to the growth of its Boeing-invested aerospace division. The unit is the Tier-1 supplier for the U.S.-based aerospace giant.

Huneed also attributed the latest achievement to its manpower management know-how. The company said it focuses on developing and training its human resources in a systematic way even after employing them.

The education program the company offers includes a months-long training course to manufacturing facilities of Boeing in the United States and those of Airbus and Safran in Europe.
