Ruling party wishes for successful summit

The ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) held a rally, Wednesday, to wish for the success of the inter-Korea summit on Friday.

“The miracle never comes miraculously. The summit is the fruit of great patience, tears and prayers,” DPK Chairwoman Rep. Choo Mi-ae said. “Please let this miracle keep going and end the Korean War so we can have peace for good.”

Choo denounced the political offensives by the largest conservative Liberty Korea Party (LKP), which has belittled the first-ever summit to be held in the South. LKP Chairman Hong Joon-pyo defined it as a “political show,” claiming it will only benefit North Korea.

“The world, except the LKP, ardently desires peace on the peninsula,” Choo said.

Party floor leader Woo Won-shik echoed the message of peace. “When the two leaders of the Koreas shake hands, the moment will end the era of division and begin the era of peace and unification,” he said.

“The way toward peace looks bright, even being joined by President Donald Trump and neighbor countries. The DPK will surely pioneer a new path.”
