The Woongjin Foundation has won a 2017 Migration on Advocacy and Media Award for its multicultural music broadcasts, the foundation said Friday.
Commission on Filipinos Overseas under the Office of the President of the Philippines said the foundation was recognized for its continued contribution to the welfare of its citizens here.
The foundation is among many international media to which the Philippines government gives awards every year.
Launched in 2008, Woongjin Multicultural Family Music Broadcast runs many programs around the clock to help foreigners in Korea adapt in a country where they might feel isolated.
The programs, popular among the foreign community, cover not only news and current issues but also provide information on cultural events and Korean language classes.

The ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 18 at the Philippine International Convention Center at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, almost 1.76 million foreigners live in Korea _ about 3.4 percent of the population.
