Min elected as chairman of Korea Press Foundation

Min Byung-wook was named the new chairman of the Korea Press Foundation.

The foundation’s board of directors elected 66-year-old Min, former head of the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced, Friday.

A graduate of Yonsei University, Min started as a journalist with Donga Ilbo in 1976, where he was served a managing editor and editorial writer. He served as the chairman of the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea between 2006 and 2009.

During the President Moon Jae-in’s presidential election campaign, Min headed Moon’s media advisory group and consulted him on various media related issues.

The Korea Press Foundation, formed in 1999, is a non-profit organization to serve and protect the media and public interest.

Min’s three year tenure as the head of the Korea Press Foundation ends on Sept. 21, 2020.
