The School of Business Administration at Sejong University has appointed Hwang Jae-nam, partner at Samjong KPMG, as an advisor for its efforts to maintain accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a leading global accreditation body for business education.
The university said Thursday that Hwang’s appointment will support the school in securing AACSB reaccreditation, adding that it is preparing for the next reaccreditation review in 2028.
Sejong University’s School of Business Administration was among the first private universities in South Korea to earn AACSB accreditation in 2007. Since then, it has maintained its accreditation through three consecutive reaccreditation reviews in 2012, 2017 and 2022.
The university expects Hwang’s extensive industry experience and professional expertise to contribute significantly to the school’s long-term development strategy, curriculum enhancement and industry-academia collaboration efforts.
It also anticipates that he will play a crucial role in helping shape educational strategies that reflect industry needs and emerging business trends, while building a talent development framework centered on practical competencies.
Hwang currently serves as head of Industrial Markets Division 1 at Samjong KPMG. He also co-leads the accounting firm’s ESG reporting and assurance practice and is recognized for his expertise in auditing, financial advisory services, and environmental, social and corporate governance disclosure and assurance.
AACSB, founded in 1916 in the United States, is a world-renowned standard-setting body for business education, strengthening the world’s business schools through accreditation, thought leadership and transformative learning. More than 1,000 business schools across approximately 60 countries hold AACSB accreditation.
Globally renowned business schools such as Harvard Business School, the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and INSEAD (European Institute of Business Administration) have earned AACSB accreditation. Only about 5 percent of business schools worldwide have earned and maintained AACSB accreditation.
