With the “athleisure” look, which incorporates active wear into the world of fashion, rising as one of the hottest looks this year, sneakers are all the rage this spring.

Vintage, pastel tones and slip-ons are three keywords dominating the sneaker trend this season, industry sources say.

Global sports brands are re-introducing sneaker designs popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Earlier this year, Puma launched its “Trinomic XT1/XT2 Plus Original” model, which replicates the design, color and even the shoe box of the very first product of the Trinomic series introduced in 1991.

Hues of sneakers this spring come in a pastel palette of pink, mint and lilac with white as the base color. Skono’s “Creamy Lover” sneaker is a two-tone design with combinations of pink, mint, gray and navy.

Slip-on designs ― which do not have laces and expose the top part of the foot ― are also in vogue, although they’ve become a little more splashy, as can be seen from Keds’ polka dot and flower print slip-ons.
