NK opens domestic flights for citizens

Listen

North Korea has launched domestic flights between Pyongyang and other cities and made them available to citizens, Radio Free Asia reports.

Citing a source in China, RFA said the flights include those between Pyongyang and Samjiyeon, Orang and Hamheung, respectively.

The flights cost between $60 and $92 dollars. Given the decrepit state of the North Korean economy, observers said the prices were out of the reach of ordinary citizens.

Qualities of the flights were also subpar, the report said, citing the source. The planes were reportedly outdates and easily rattled by turbulence. The report said the models of the planes hadn’t been identified.

Sources speculated that the introduction of plane could have something to do with poor trains services between the cities.
