Police have arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of murder after five people believed to be members of the same family were found dead Tuesday in an apartment in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The suspect, identified as A, has been formally booked on murder charges, the Yongin Seobu Police Station said. Officers discovered the bodies at around 9:55 a.m. at A’s residence in Suji District, following a request for assistance from the fire department.
Investigators noted signs of foul play on the bodies and identified A, a resident of the home, as the primary suspect. He was located and taken into custody outside of the city. However, police said A is currently not in a physical condition to undergo questioning.
Authorities had yet to confirm the identities of the deceased or clarify their relationship to the suspect. Police said the exact nature of the relationship between A and the victims remains under investigation.
A full autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death. Police plan to question A once his health allows and continue efforts to confirm the victims’ identities and determine a motive.
