Police detained a man Tuesday for allegedly murdering a woman who died after she was stabbed at a live music bar in Gwonseon, south of Suwon.

According to Suwon Nambu Police and Yonhap, the man, surnamed Lee, 60, was apprehended at his friend's house in south Suwon about 13 hours after he allegedly stabbed the woman to death and fled.

Police said Lee went to the bar at 8:45 p.m. Monday and allegedly stabbed the woman, 52, three times with a sharp object while talking to her and the bar owner, both of whom he knew.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died soon after.

Police told Yonhap that Lee was “highly intoxicated” when he came to the bar.

Lee said he stabbed the woman in a fit of anger because she was “looking down on him.” He fled after threatening also to kill one of the bar's employees.
