A man has been booked for assaulting a police officer to avoid a sobriety test in the western part of Gwangju, according to police, Monday.
According to Gwangju Seobu Police, the man, surnamed Park, 38, got out of his car and at a police checkpoint at around 10:40 p.m., Friday. He allegedly bit an officer's finger and ran about 200 meters from before being caught.
Park's blood alcohol level was 0.060 percent, according to police ― high enough for his license to be suspended.
Police said he told them he was worried about his job if his employer found out about his drunk driving.
The man works as temporary worker at a district office.
