CCTV catches man lying about death of girlfriend

A man, 21, was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death, Cheongju Police said Wednesday.

The two had a fight in the middle of a Cheongju street at 5:30 a.m. Monday. He punched her several times and knocked her out, police said.

She was taken to hospital, but died two days later.

The boyfriend claimed he pushed her by mistake and she hit her head on the ground when she fell. But a surveillance camera showed him punching her several times.

Police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service.
