Security guard plunges to death down elevator shaft

An apartment security guard accidentally plunged to his death down an elevator shaft in an apartment building near Haeundae beach in Busan on Saturday morning.

Police suspect a technical glitch led the elevator door to open before the cage arrived. The guard, identified as Lee, 29, stepped in and fell, they said.

An investigation is under way.
