A high school principal in Gwangju will face court soon for allegedly poking students' breasts.

The principal, 58, allegedly touched the breasts of 26 students on 46 occasions, telling them they were not wearing the name tags on their chests properly. He is due to appear in Gwangju District Court.

In addition, about 180 of the 860 enrolled students said they were physically or verbally abused by teachers, according to a Gwangju education office survey.

The school has 57 teachers, 39 male and 18 female. Fifteen are under investigation.

The school has hired short-term teachers and lecturers, with the help of the education office, to prevent class disruptions.
