Nine high school students and three adults in Busan have been charged with trading stolen identification cards and drivers' licenses through social media, according to the police, Monday.
The students, aged 16 and 17, used Facebook to search for sellers of ID cards and purchased seven of them.
The cards were stolen by the adults including one who is 21 years old at bars. They sold the cards for between of 30,000 won ($28) and 50,000 won.
Teenagers have used the illegally obtained IDs to get into bars or buy cigarettes.
In a separate case, a boy and a girl, both 17, were caught in Busan last September, for taking 35 million won from 68 people in a scam involving stolen IDs.
They allegedly uploaded photos to second-handed goods sites of the unpacked mobile phones and household appliances and offered to sell them at low prices, according to the police.
The two opened 13 cellphones using 10 IDs they obtained online. They paid 30,000 won for each ID card.
