Police will conduct field sobriety tests at Seoul’s major entertainment and business districts in a year-end crackdown on drunk driving.

The nationwide crackdown will be held twice a week, up from once in other months.

The intensified action will begin Friday night and continue to the end of January.

“This is the season when many drivers tend to sit behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol,” a police officer said. “We will never tolerate drunken drivers.”

The officer said passengers in a car driven by a drunk driver are also punished, calling on people to use public transportation after drinking alcohol.
