Uzbek arrested for knife attack on Muslim at mosque

A drunken Uzbek man was arrested for a knife attack on a Muslim worshipper who stopped him as he was heading to a toilet at a mosque in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, police said Friday.

The Uzbek, a carpenter, 46, is now in custody.

According to Ansan Danwon Police Station, the Uzbek came across the Muslim worshipper, an Indonesian, 39, on Friday at 5:20 a.m. Five worshippers, including the victim, stopped the man at the mosque’s entrance, which led to a scuffle. The Uzbek threatened them with a knife and the victim suffered a minor injury to his left hand.

Police plan to seek an arrest warrant for the man.
