A total of 51 confirmed bedbug cases were reported nationwide last week in line with the stabilizing trend following a weekly peak of 70 cases seen last month, officials said Wednesday.
The latest weekly cases, tallied from Dec. 11-17, included 46 cases confirmed by regional governments across the country and five others reported by private pest control companies, government officials said.
The weekly number increased by four cases compared with the preceding week.
The weekly bedbug tally has stabilized in the 40s range since peaking at 70 in the week from Nov. 20-26.
The figure for the Nov. 27-Dec. 3 period stood at 42 and 47 for the following week.
The government concluded that bedbug infestations have subsided somewhat thanks to active bedbug reports from the public and pest control efforts. It will, however, continue to maintain a stringent bedbug control posture for a while, officials said. (Yonhap)
