Mike's Korean Kitchen, a social media culinary project run by a guy named Mike, is returning to Seoul this Saturday for a pop-up event at Southside Parlor in central Seoul's Itaewon.
He will start selling his authentically seasoned Jamaican patties at 11 a.m. and keep going until he runs out.
A Jamaican patty is a bright golden semicircular pocket stuffed with meat.
The patties weigh over 112 grams, and are priced at 10,000 won each.
"I use real Jamaican hot curry powder, lots and lots of real butter," Mike told The Korea Times. "Working on having Crisco but that takes a while... need that if I'm gonna ever try to make a vegan patty."
He added that he uses real fresh scotch bonnet peppers.
"Hopefully this pop-up gets my biggest turnout," he said. "That's what I'm gonna try and prepare for."
Mike is active mostly outside Seoul, with his last Seoul pop-up being held at View 33 in Itaewon on Feb. 7, 2020, for a Bob Marley birthday event he helped organize.
This isn't on Bob Marley's birthday, which falls next Tuesday on Feb. 6, but it's clear Mike has Bob in mind.
"I always try to do something for Bob Marley's bday every year," he said.
