The rhythmic heart of Itaewon pulses to the beat of DJ Nox, a local turntablist who has been setting dance floors ablaze for a decade. In a recent interview, DJ Nox provided insights into her journey, the transformative power of music and her passion for the turntables.

Currently, she commands the soundscape at one of Itaewon newest venues, THE MAN:SION, and a well-known soul-filled bar known as Soul By Jess. These venues have become DJ Nox’s professional sound stadium where she scores big with the crowds by lining up hit after hit, ranging from hip-hop and R&B to funk, soul and pop from the 1980s to the present day.

With a decade of DJing experience under her belt, DJ Nox's journey began in a rather serendipitous manner. As she shared in her interview, her love for music was a lifelong affair. It was during a visit to a cozy bar near her residence that ignited a spark of curiosity about DJing. That chance encounter paved the way for a remarkable career that includes the accolade of being the Redbull 3style national finalist in 2019.

One of the most fascinating aspects of DJ Nox's story is the transformative effect music had on her life. She confessed to being introverted in her earlier years, but the world of DJing changed that. For DJ Nox, DJing is more than just a profession; it's a canvas for self-expression. “I learned how to express myself through music,” she told The Korea Times. “then, when I started DJing, I delved even deeper into the world of music, and the process was so much fun. It felt like I was truly living my own life. Playing music and sharing vibes with many people is the greatest joy in my life.”

When asked about the less glamorous aspects of DJing, DJ Nox was quick to downplay any challenges, stating that she doesn't dwell on them. She firmly believes that no job is without its difficulties, and perhaps it's her resilient attitude that has helped her thrive in this competitive world.
