Robert Fouser, a well-known advocate of traditional Korean architecture preservation, is back in Korea for his annual visit. He will lead a tour for the Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch to Changshin-dong in northeastern Seoul.
He will lead the group to Jangsu Village, one of Seoul's few remaining “moon villages,” or refugee camps created after the Korean War.
They will also visit Samgunbu Chongmudang, the Joseon-period headquarters of the Korean military, as well as Buddhist sites, various other examples of traditional residential structures, a sewing museum in the commercial part of Changshin-dong, the Nam June Paik Memorial House and finally Dongmyo.
The tour starts this Sunday at 1 p.m. from exit 4 of Hansung University Station on Line 4. The tour costs 20,000 won, or 25,000 won for non-members. Visit raskb.com or fb.com/raskb for more information.
Itaewon Global Village Center is hosting the Community Health Fair for Foreign Residents this Saturday in the basement of Yongsan-gu Office.
The fair offers free morning and afternoon classes in CPR training. All foreigners age 12 years old and above are welcome to join.
Visitors can also get free consultations on various health-related topics from representatives of several institutions present, including Soonchunhyang University Hospital, Korea Federation for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Itaewon Global Dental.
