Startups talk real estate

This Thursday, the Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup group offers a chance to hear how two high-profile startups are setting new trends in real estate. Speakers include Elysia Lee Ah-yeon, vice president of Woozoo, and ZipToss CEO Lee Jae-yoon. Woozoo is a social venture providing modern and affordable shared housing, and ZipToss provides commission-free brokerage services to prospective residential tenants. Celebrate the summer with an all-night party at Bucket Beach, a newly opened dive bar in Haebangchon located next to Bonny's Pizza. For EDM fans, the 5tardium will get your heart pumping on July 7 and 8 at Seoul's Jamsil Olympic Stadium. The theme this year is “Starroad” and the event has partnered up with Mercedes-Benz for their fifth birthday to have a blowout with some out-of-this-world experiences. Over two days, it offers 10 acts including Head Hunters, Netsky, Cat Dealers, What So Not and Bryan Kearney.

Restaurant offers clothing swap

WinK Kitchen and Taphouse in Seocho-gu, southern Seoul, offers a clothing swap event this Sunday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring their “lightly used clothing items” and swap till their heart's content. “Please do not sell any items taken from a swap at a later date,” organizers warn. “Don't abuse generosity!”

Australian releases 'Korean Gardens' book

Australian author Jill Matthews releases her new book on Korean gardens next Monday. Matthews, who has been publishing papers for years on gardens, particularly the characteristics of Korean gardens, brings it all together in her latest book, “Tradition, Symbolism and Resilience: Korean Gardens” published by Hollym.
