Storm, a traveling Copenhagen-based artist, will be part of an international group exhibition at Black Market in Seoul from April 20 to 22.

The “Open Gallery” event will feature the works of four artists comprising prints, murals, paintings and shows.

The Danish urban contemporary artist has been in Seoul since last November to pursue his art here and in East Asia.

Having started painting around 1992, and at an early age Storm traveled Europe, where he established a strong reputation in the urban art scene.

His work in Seoul and Hong Kong comprises large murals adorning buildings including the Seoul neighborhoods of Hongdae, Gangnam and Itaewon.

Storm has work with companies such as Reebok in Russia, Vans in Hong Kong and Ironlak and Redbull in Denmark as well as being the invited artist for some of Europe's biggest art and music festivals.

The artist stresses his independent approach to his work and art.

“Working as an independent artist comes with its challenges. Consistency is important and I like being busy preparing new projects and collaborations,” Storm told The Korea Times.

“I have a business background and was working with design and project management before I decided to pursue my art full time. This was four years ago and I'm happy I have my work experience to help balance my art while focusing on future projects. My goal is to find steady art- and project management-related work here in Korea and or in East Asia.”

Storm will visit Denmark in May to paint for a couple of music and tattoo festivals and then go to Italy to paint a school building before returning to Copenhagen to work on a solo exhibition opening in June.

“When the summer is ending around August or September, I plan to return to Seoul.”

Storms most recent work includes painting a 12-meter mural on the SFactory entrance in Seongsu-dong.

Last year before visiting Seoul, Storm came directly from Mexico where he painted a large mural for the Meeting of Style art event.

Other projects include workshops and charity functions for different organization to help children in countries like France, Denmark and Germany.

Other artists exhibiting at the Black Market include Boyane Zel, a graffiti artist and illustrator from France, U.S. comic illustrator Aaron Cossrow and Korean illustrator and mural artist Seename.

The Black Market is located in Itaewon near the mosque.
