Power blogger Hallie Bradley will send dozens of her readers on a mad mission around Seoul, Saturday, to locate important cultural sites and complete various tasks.

The S(e)oul Derby is open to teams of four to participate in “a cross between scavenger hunt searches and Amazing Race-esque missions,” according to the organizer.

“I love meeting people that read my blog the Soul of Seoul and love taking tourists around,” Bradley told The Korea Times in an interview. “After residing in Korea for 10 years, it’s pretty easy for me to know where to go, what to see and make clues for those places so it felt natural to put it together for others that probably can’t.”

Bradley, who moved here from Ohio in 2006, started blogging at

in 2010 on lifestyle, travel, Korean culture and traditions and being part of a multicultural family in Korea, but she began offering various in-person events through the Soul of Seoul Tours.

On April 30 she offered Scavenging for S(e)oul, a hugely popular event attracting 82 participants.

“It was larger than we had originally expected but went off really well,” said Bradley. “We wanted that event and this one to be an opportunity for people to see Seoul in a different way, learn about Korean culture and have fun and possibly see some different places that they haven’t seen yet.”

The event starts at 3 p.m. at Hapjeong Station and ends in Itaewon, with missions to Yeouido and Jongno and everywhere in between. Participants can win prizes, valued up to 1 million won in total from over a dozen sponsors including Mix & Malt, OK Burger, TrickEye Museum and Banh Mi.

Entry costs 25,000 won per person, and participants may register as a team or individually. Contact
