The American Women’s Club Korea (AWC) is inviting members and nonmembers to attend a special potluck lunch with a discussion on human trafficking at Asterium A Tower in Seoul, May 19.
Michelle Roberts, an American expat who has lived in Asia for six years, will preside over the discussion. She works to raise awareness and reduce the effects of human trafficking.
“Roberts spent time volunteering in Cambodia working with Agape International Mission, an anti-human trafficking organization, which works to prevent trafficking and to rescue, restore and reintegrate girls who have been victims of sex trafficking,” the club says in a press release.
Ms. Roberts will provide insight into this pervasive problem and give suggestions on what can be done to help the girls who are in this situation. New information will be shared building on Roberts’ previous presentations.
The AWC is comprised of a group of women who gather for friendship, cultural and social activities, as well as identifying and raising welfare funds for local Korean communities. Membership is open to women of all countries.
The AWC will provide drinks and salad. Participants are asked to bring a dish or dessert to share.
The cost is 5,000 for members and 10,000 won for non-members. Proceeds after expenses will be used to support AWC charities.
The meeting will be from midday to 2 p.m. at Asterium A Tower, 20th Floor, Hangang-daero 30-gil 25, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
