White Box Theater presents one man play “The Orderly” by Michael Downey and will also audition for Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” in the month of June.

The Orderly is inspired by the life of the now deceased Peter Russell, who as writer and performer, Michael Downey, met when he worked as an orderly at Auckland’s North Shore Hospital. Peter, a small and frail man, was an orderly during the week and fought as a Viking on the weekends as a member of the historical re-enactment group, the Auckland Norse.

Downey will perform the piece based on original New Zealand director Anders Falstie-Jensen’s moves.

The play will run from June 21 to 30 with performance times at Friday 9 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m. and Sunday 4 p.m.

Tickets cost 15,000 won.

Auditions for The Crucible by Arthur Miller, to be directed by Liam Mitchinson will be held on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The Crucible” is a classic American theater _ Arthur Miller’s tense, ingeniously multilayered drama of principle and paranoia.

The story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, an enclave of rigid piety huddled on the edge of a wilderness. Its inhabitants believe unquestioningly in their own sanctity. But in Arthur Miller's edgy masterpiece, that very belief will have poisonous consequences when a vengeful teenager accuses a rival of witchcraft ― and then those accusations multiply to consume the entire village.

The open auditions will be for one day only. There is no need to prepare anything. All actors of any background are welcome and the auditions will be cold readings only. Callback auditions to be set at a later date
