Local artist and businessman Pascal Biannic Leger together with MIUM Gallery in the AJU building in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, will introduce to the public the art and story of “Jeju the Stone Boy.”

Running from Dec. 9 till Feb. 10, 2012, the exhibition will mainly consist of a series of artworks “narrating” on a large storyboard-like structure the tale of “Jeju the Stone Boy.” Visitors are then invited to view the e-book in a volcano shaped tent.

A copy of the e-book will be presented to all middle and primary school children that take part in a “Jeju the Stone Boy” drawing contest. The winner, to be decided by the end of the exhibition, will be awarded a weekend trip for two at the Hyatt Hotel Jeju.

Biannic Leger studied as an artist at the California Institute of the Arts and developed a storyboard style of narrative with strong emphasis on style and animation.

His first exhibition in Seoul features the work of his book inspired by his visit to Jeju Island.

“Sketches, enlarged drawings as a storyboard, and a visit of the volcano where groups and individuals can watch and listen to Jeju’s adventure, will take place for two months,” states a press release.

Also part of the exhibition concept is the first operation of the Memories Foundation. Taking place on Jeju it is devoted to preserving the memories and folklore associated with the island, from stories passed down from parent to child, to songs that were sung and tales that were told.

It’s goal is to gather, file and share the memories of the elderly Koreans from Jeju Island.

The Memory Foundation receives funding from 20 percent of the e-book sales.

The exhibition is free.

The AJU building is located next to the GS Building at Yeoksam Station and the MUIM Gallery is on the 20th floor. It’s accessible by elevator from exit 8

Volume I of the e-book “The Curse of the Son” is available for $9.99 (about 11,000 won) from www.pascalpublishing.com
