The Seoul International Women's Association (SIWA) and the diplomatic community will host the annual community bazaar at the Grand Hilton hotel in Hongeun-dong on Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 32nd bazaar will bring unique handicrafts, foods, wines, antiques, clothing, entertainment and other treasures from around the world.
Known as a great cultural experience, the bazaar is also an excellent shopping opportunity. Other events include a silent auction and a lucky draw with prizes that include flight tickets, hotel stays and other gifts and prizes.
The bazaar has been held since 1978, and has raised more than 150 to 200 million won each year, assisting over 40 different charities with food, fuel and living supplies.
Founded in 1962, SIWA is one of the largest international women’s organizations, with members from more than 50 countries, including Korea.
Memberships have risen continuously to a peak of 400, offering a place where women from all over the world can meet, find friends, share their knowledge, culture and interests while helping various charities.
The group strives to enhance the lives of expatriates in Korea, as well as to support those in need.
Over 50 embassies, women's clubs, charity groups, and vendors participate in the bazaar, selling goods from around the world. Businesses give generously either with a cash donation or company products. The gala evening is a wonderful event with entertainment, great food, and a silent auction. This event is an extension of the bazaar as it is the generous donations of the diplomatic community and businesses that makes it possible
SIWA is purely a volunteer-run organization and depends on the support and work of its active members.
The list of VIPs to the event includes popular actress Lee Yun-ji.
The sponsors are Asian Tigers Transpact, KEB Bank, Seoul Global Center, Asian Arts & Craft, Dong Suh, Doosan, Sungjoo D & D Inc. and TengTeng Skin Clinic.
