The Korea Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (KOTESOL) will host a workshop on Toastmasters International at Sookmyung Women's University, in Seoul, on Nov. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m.
The Seoul chapter of KOTESOL will host a workshop under the topic “Toastmasters ― Skill-building and Confidence in and out of the Classroom.”
The workshop will be held in Room 105 Injaegwan Center of the university.
KOTESOL is a professional organization for teachers of English. Their main goals are to assist members in their self-development, and improve ELT in Korea. KOTESOL allows teachers to connect with others in the ELT community and find teaching resources in Korea and abroad through its publications, conferences and symposia, and chapter meetings and workshops.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization that has helped more than 260,000 members in 113 countries to better themselves. Members learn how to prepare and present professional speeches, how to provide immediate and constructive feedback, and how to give impromptu speeches in a friendly and supportive learning environment. A great number of people from all around the world have followed the Toastmasters proven and enjoyable program since 1924, but not many people, especially in Korea, know about Toastmasters.
The workshop will showcase the key features of Toastmasters, and especially how it is beneficial to public school, hagwon, college and university teachers. There will be a demo meeting with a prepared speech session, an evaluation session and an impromptu speech session so that workshop attendees can experience an organized, regular Toastmasters meeting.
To get to Sookmyung Women's University (Injaegwan), go out exit 10 of Sookmyung Women’s University Station (line No. 4) and walk through the tunnel under the railway line, cross the main road, and walk up the hill towards the university.
Keep going up the hill until you come to a set of traffic lights. There is a bakery on the corner, BBang Goom, and a café, Can More, across the street. Turn right into the lane, Saem-gil, and walk uphill until you reach the Sookmyung Professional Center (Injaegwan). It’s a new grey brick building on the right, across the lane from a GS 25 convenience store. It's on the third floor room # 105.
Note: The Sookmyung Professional Center is not on the main campus. If you reach the main campus, you have gone too far up the hill.
