In June, there is a traditional Korean festival day known as Dano. To celebrate this, the Itaewon-Hannam Global Village Center will be going to the Soodo Cooking Academy to learn how to make two dishes associated with this festival day.
The first dish is a type rice cake called suritchit-ddeok. It has a circular shape and its green color comes from the suritchit leaves that are used when making it.
The second is chogyetang or cold chicken and vegetable salad in water. This is a great dish to beat the early summer heat.
The event will be at the Soodo Cooking Academy in Jongno, Seoul on June 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
To get there, take subway to Jongno 5-ga station (Line 1) and leave via exit 3. Walk straight about 50 meters.

The Camarata Music Company proudly presents Gilbert & Sullivan's swashbuckling tale of Frederic, a veritable "slave of duty" newly out of his apprenticeship with the Pirates of Penzance and determined to lead a blameless life evermore.
Follow his adventures as he meets beautiful Wards in Chancery and their Major General father, and falls in love with the lyrical and lovely Mabel, only to find his past has caught up with him! Over the course of the tale the pirate king will regale you with why it is a glorious thing to be a pirate, and Frederic's nurse explains how he came to be a pirate, not a pilot.
“See policemen, pirates, wards and warriors, fellows and felons, caper and cavort.
“Join us for paradoxes, often orphans, and many cheerful facts about the square of the hypote-pote-nuse!”
The performances will be staged at Seoul National University of Education in Gangnam, Seoul.
They will take place on June 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and June 20 at 3:30 p.m.
