``The Cove,'' a film about Dolphin hunting practices in Japan, was shown at Roofers Bar in Itaewon, Saturday.

``It went really well, 120 people came. And for most of them it was their first time seeing the film. There was a really good reaction from the audience,'' said Jenny Jang, who organized the event.

The film was produced by Ric O'Barry who once captured and tagged dolphins for hit U.S. television show ``Flipper,'' but has since changed his ways and now campaigns against dolphin hunting.

Thousands of dolphins are killed or captured every year in areas including Japan, Norway and Denmark.

Jang, a Korean musician educated in England, currently runs a monthly music showcase named ``Night of the Blue Dolphins.'' The event, established in January, has 10 bands perform for 20 minutes at a time.

``I always wanted to do an event like this, to raise funds and awareness, and this was a good opportunity where I could link it to the Blue Dolphins event,'' Jang said. ``I began working as an event promoter and organizer, I was doing things like Haiti fundraisers and I liked it, I realized that I want to be a fundraiser and raise funds and awareness.

``The (screening) was the first fundraiser I have done and I really enjoyed it, so I will be doing more in the future.''

Next month, Jang plans to hold a raffle alongside her Blue Dolphins music event, where half of the money raised will go to the Save the Japan Dolphin charity and the other to the raffle winner.

Boram Bae, a Green Korea United representative, spoke at the screening about the whaling practices in Korea.

Green Korea United has shown interest in holding similar events, said Jang.

``They said it was the first time they did a fundraiser for animals in the form of a party, it was a test run and they liked it and said that they want to use parties with live music again in the future,'' Jang said.
