They were just a small band ― colorful and boisterous, in keeping with Latin American tradition.
Just a dozen or so strong, they set out for Seoul World Cup Stadium with high hopes of a win.
Though the records, world rankings and form may have been on their side, however, it was not to be, as the South Korean national team spoiled the party.
That was the lot of members of Korea's Paraguayan community last Wednesday night as the country's top football stars arrived in town for a friendly international.
They saw their favorites beaten 1-0 by the South Koreans.
Among the Paraguayan contingent was the South American country's ambassador, Ceferino Adrian Valdez Peralta. Joking afterward, he quipped that Koreans were now in his bad books.
The group set off from the Paraguayan restaurant Comedor in Itaewon for the match.
