The state arms procurement agency said Monday it has completed the development of an armored medical evacuation vehicle designed to increase the survivability of troops on the front lines.

The armored vehicle was specially designed to help safely escort wounded soldiers on the front lines to hospitals while enabling them to receive remote medical support on the way, according to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).

Ambulances currently in use by the military have difficulty in providing emergency transport near combat units due to their low mobility and insufficient protection gears.

DAPA plans to prepare for mass production of the medical evacuation vehicle to ensure timely delivery to the Army.
