The Navy and Marine Corps have launched joint landing drills in the southeastern port city of Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, in conjunction with the military's annual Hoguk defense exercise, the armed services said Tuesday.
Some 2,400 troops from the Navy, the Marine Corps as well as the special warfare command and drone command have been deployed for the six-day exercise that runs through Thursday, they said.
About 20 vessels as well as 15 KAAV amphibious assault vehicles and six MUH-1 Marineon helicopters were also deployed.
In addition to the landing drills, participating troops will also take part in various types of training aimed at enhancing their military logistics capabilities, such as operating transport drones and transshipping equipment and goods.
