The Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA) said Thursday that Eugene Kim, chairman of Huneed Technologies, a domestic defense firm headquartered in Incheon, had been named its 17th chairman. The KDIA announced Kim's inauguration at its 2021 general meeting held at the Air Force Hall in Seoul.
“We will strive to secure a national defense export strategy and build international level marketing capabilities, with a vision that the Korean defense industry will build up its own competitiveness in the global defense industry,” Kim said.
He also vowed to push for the improvement of laws and systems to create a favorable business environment for domestic defense firms while also supporting management conditions for KDIA member companies.
KDIA was launched in 1976 to foster and develop the domestic defense industry according to relevant industry laws. It counts 681 Korean companies as members, including Korea Aerospace Industries, Hanwha, Korean Air, LIG Nex1 and Huneed, and helps to promote exports of its members by enhancing the competitiveness of the local defense industry.
