The Army has revealed pictures of a live-fire exercise using its new multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) “Chunmoo”.
The 230mm multiple rocket launcher “Chunmoo” was developed with Korean technology between 2009 and 2013.
After testing, it was deemed combat-ready last August and deployed to field units.
It has a maximum range of 80 kilometers and fires single or 12 consecutive missiles.
Its fire control system is fully automatic and can fire 230mm guided and unguided missiles, 130mm rocket propellants and U.S. MLRS rounds.
The army plans to use Chunmoo as a key weapon to neutralize North Korea’s long-range artillery.
