Listen

Former Grand National Party (GNP) chairwoman Park Geun-hye will visit China this month as head of a delegation representing President-elect Lee Myung-bak, political sources said Saturday.

Rep. Yim Tae-hee, a spokesman for Lee, said the proposal was floated in talks between the two political leaders held late last month. Insiders close to Park said the three-term lawmaker accepted the proposal and would leave for China around Jan. 14.

Rep. Chung Mong-joon, an independent lawmaker, who has joined Lee from the election campaign, is reported to visit Washington as special envoy of the President-elect, the sources said.

Rep. Lee Sang-deuk, vice Speaker of the National Assembly from the Grand National Party and elder brother of the President-elect, is expected to visit Japan for similar purpose and Lee Jae-oh will visit Moscow as special envoy.
