GAPYEONG — The body of a man presumed to have been swept away by recent flooding was recovered from soil near a river in the northern county of Gapyeong, authorities said Saturday.
A rescue dog discovered the body buried in soil along the Bukhan River in Gapyeong County, about 55 kilometers northeast of Seoul, at around 1:30 p.m., according to police and fire authorities.
Officials have retrieved the body and are working to confirm the victim's identity.
Currently, the only missing person in the Gapyeong area is a man in his 50s who is believed to have been carried away by strong currents near the riverside in late July.
