A 2.3-magnitude quake jolted the city of Suwon, 36 kilometers south of Seoul, on Monday at about 9 a.m.
There were no immediate reports of damage in the city, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration. Samsung Electronics semiconductor factory in the city reported no damage.
“Although the earthquake was detected there was no initial report of any damage,” said a Samsung official. “We are conducting a thorough investigation.”
Emergency crews received about 40 inquiries in Suwon and nearby cities of Hwaseong and Yongin.
