The main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea (MPK) has changed its English name to the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK).

According to the party, it officially merged with the non-parliamentary Democratic Party last week.

The MPK has decided to keep its current Korean name, but the party announced that the DPK will be used as its official English name.

According to Choo Mi-ae, the head of the party, the integration between the two parties means a declaration of hope and the launch of a grand march toward administrative change by overcoming the divisions and desperation felt by the people who are losing hope as they “stand on the edge of life.”
