The unemployment rate for people aged 15-29 stands at 9.2 percent in Korea, a 0.2 percent increase since last year, according to the OECD on Monday.

Korea is among five OECD countries where youth unemployment has increased over the year.

The others are Finland with a 1.8 percent increase, Norway 1.5 percent, Turkey 0.5 percent and Netherlands 0.3 percent.

The remaining 29 members either maintained the rate or recorded a fall.

Countries with the greatest fall included Ireland with 3.9 percent, Slovakia 3.7 percent, Greece 3.7 percent and Spain 3 percent.

The average rate across OECD members was a 1 percent fall.

Compared to European countries, Korea has low youth unemployment.

However, the figure does not take into account many people preparing for civil service examinations.
