Heavy rain is forecast for Seoul and the central region of the Korean Peninsula for the next four days, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
The rain is predicted to become more spasmodic in the southern region, where there have been several reports of infrastructure damage.
The KMA estimates 50-100mm of rain will fall in North Gyeongsang and Jeolla Provinces by Tuesday, and that 30-80mm will fall in South Gyeongsang and Jeolla Provinces, the central region of the peninsula 200 mm and the coastal regions of South Gyeongsang Province is expected to receive 120 mm.
“From Monday to Tuesday some areas will get up to 30mm of rain an hour,” said a KMA official.
The KMA said that while the rain would ease in the second week of July, it would start again in the third week in all regions.
