Foreigners interested in Korean culture will be able to experience major tourist attractions in depth in Seocho-gu, southern Seoul, Seocho-gu Office announced Sunday.

Seocho-gu will offer a special tour program called the “Global Seocho Culture Experience” to 20 selective foreigners on May 27.

“The program will offer a chance to experience Korean culture for foreigners who haven’t had the opportunity to do so,” an official said. “It is expected to promote Korean culture and boost tourism in Seocho-gu.”

The program will be based on a visit to two places: Daeseongsa Temple (a traditional temple) and National Gugak Center (an institute for Korean traditional music).

At Daeseongsa Temple, tourists will experience a communal Buddhist meal. At the National Gugak Center, the visitors will experience traditional Korean music, including samulnori (Korean traditional percussion music).

A professional translator will accompany the tourists.

Any foreigner can apply for the program. Application forms are available from the Seocho-gu Office website (
