A woman threw hydrochloric acid at four police officers at Gwanak Police Station in southern Seoul Monday morning.

Two officers are in hospital suffering severe burns to their faces and necks.

The other two officers returned to work after receiving being treated at a hospital.

The attacker, 38, identified only by her surname Jeon, is known to have harbored a grudge against one of the police because of his “unfriendly attitude” during an investigation involving her.

“We have launched an investigation to find the motive,” said a police official. “We are considering seeking an arrest warrant to prevent her from fleeing or destroying evidence linked to the attack.”
