The South Korean government said Wednesday that it will launch a nationwide project to correct English-language signposts containing misspellings and inaccurate translations.
The project is aimed at correcting misspelling or awkward translations on signs and boards at travel sites, as well as brochures for various tourist assets, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
"The government project will greatly help foreigners and improve the image of the Republic of Korea (South Korea)," said Shim Duk-seob, an official in charge of the project.
The ministry said it will first collect the erroneous translations from relevant government agencies and local governments, officials said.
The corrections then will be proofread by native English speakers, they added.
