A man has turned himself in to police who were pursuing him for allegedly spraying hydrochloric acid on his ex-girlfriend.

According to Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, Sunday, police have asked the prosecution to request an arrest warrant for the man, surnamed Yang, 41, for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend with hydrochloric acid on Dec. 24.

The woman sustained partial damage to her right eye and a third-degree burn on her right shoulder. She also suffered minor burns to her face, hand and knee.

As work colleagues, they started dating in August. But the woman wanted to end the relationship after suffering abuse and being stalked by Yang. Suspecting she may have cheated on him, Yang allegedly verbally abused and physically attacked her throughout the relationship.

They broke up in November, and Yang, bearing a grudge against her, decided to kidnap her, preparing a Taser gun and hydrochloric acid, police said.

Yang fled after the attack, and police kept sending him text messages urging him to surrender. He finally turned himself in.
