Head of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, Han Sang-gyun, will leave the Jogye Temple in central Seoul at 10 a.m. today, the union said Thursday.
The umbrella union said Han will turn himself in to police, accompanying his lawyer, after leaving the temple. He has been staying there since Nov. 14 to avoid police arrest on charge of organizing illegal demonstrations in the past. He allegedly orchestrated the massive rally on Nov. 14 that turned violent, causing physical conflicts between protesters and police.
Han previously said he would leave the temple if the government and the National Assembly stop their moves to reform the nation's labor market, which the KCTU says would deteriorate workers' lives.
