'Staring' prompts alleged attack in Gwangju

Listen

Police have booked without detention two people, including a man identified only as Kim, 33, for allegedly attacking passers-by last month in Gwangju.

Kim and his acquaintance allegedly hit a man identified only as Hong, 28, and his friend in front of a food cart on Oct. 25 because they were “staring in an insulting way.” The victims had several weeks of hospital treatment for their injuries.

But police said there was some degree of physical attack on both sides.

Earlier, Hong and his friends had posted comments saying they had been the victims of “hate, no-reasons-asked” violence from Kim and his friend.
