Police are pursuing a man who allegedly attacked his girlfriend with hydrochloric acid in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.
The man, identified as Cho, 30, allegedly threw a milk carton filled with the acid at his ex-girlfriend, “A,” 35, and her friend, “B,” 35, in front of A’s house about 6 p.m. Thursday.
“A” and “B” suffered second-degree burns to their faces, necks and arms and are in hospital.
Cho may have committed the crime out of revenge because “A” wanted to break up with him, police said. Cho was waiting for her to return to her house. When she arrived, he threw the acid in her face and ran away, police said.
