Lee Bok-su, mother of Cho Choong-pil, said that she couldn’t sleep at all before the arrival of Arthur Patterson on Wednesday morning. Patterson has been charged with Cho’s murder.
“I am still trembling just thinking of the incident even though it took place 18 years ago … I think this resentment will be over only after I die,” she said in a radio show, Wednesday.
She said that all parents who survive their children might feel like her. “If my son died from an illness, my heartbreaking grief might not be this big. I cannot endure this anger because my precious son was killed in a bathroom by a stranger for no reason,” she said.
Lee said that her son, who was 22 years old back then, would be 42 years old this year if he were alive. She said that whenever she sees a man who looks like her son, she deeply misses him.
The mother said that if she meets Patterson, she wants to ask him why he killed an innocent person because she believes he was the murderer although a trial has not even started yet.
She said she will attend all hearings of the trial. “I hope the case will be solved this time.” The trial is scheduled to begin in October at Seoul District Court.
